Farida Deglel’s work was initiated by a desire to help Eritrean orphans, she was inspired to do so as her own mother was an orphan. Late in 2012 She spontaneously began to design clothing and decided to put on a fashion show as a fund-raiser for orphans, that turned out to be one of the best events of the year in Eritrea. She then became conscious of her talent and began to establish her label, Farida's Style . She realised that generating funds through this company could further her social aims and widen the charitable work that she has always undertaken.
Part of her vision is the revival of traditional hand-loom woven fabric being made in Eritrea as she knows this is needed to allow the fashion industry there to flourish. An important aspect of this revival will be to involve women who struggle to find employment. Farida’s first collection includes womenswear, menswear and childrenswear as well as swimwear. These designs are available both made to measure and ready to wear.
